Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Game Review: Stealing a Brooklyn Win, Henrik Sedin Hurt Ryan Miller stopped 47 shots and was perfect in the shootout but captain Henrik Sedin left the game with a suspected shoulder injury as the Vancouver Canucks beat the New York Islanders 2-1 in the team's first-ever visit to Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Impression of Barclays Center: one of worst NHL rinks for hockey -- and huge upgrade on Nassau Coliseum. Good crowd, energy, sparkle.

The stadium SUCKS for hockey. There are sight lines where you can't even see one of the nets from the lower bowl, and not having proper seating behind one of the nets is just weird for the NHL. Also, walking around the concourses there are squeeze points that make massive amounts of congestion. That said, the actual arena itself is quite beautiful and modern, though expensive as crap... and I only got beaked a couple of times, so not that bad, though with the 4 start it was a lot of families. The crowd was much better than the Buffalo game I went to a few months back. They announced it as a sell-out, but there was a healthy chunk of empty seats.

I've been to MSG, Barclays, and Nassau since being out here, and Nassau was probably my favourite as it reminded me of the Colloseum so much. It was an old school hockey arena at its best.

With all the cowbell that Marwood keeps asking for, I am surprised that he can move his head.

Then again, maybe that is the problem. He is so weighed down with cowbell that his head is stuck in a rut.

Rare for WD to sit vet. Prust might be odd guy out Tuesday against Rangers. Rotating with Virtanen on line with Vey/Etem. #Canucks

To the 2nd post, so i guess that means it is not likely they get traded and an effort to make the playoffs. They need to lose more games so that they can't even get awhiff of playoffs to trade them i think.

I'm guessing he has to say these things in public as opposed to saying " we were happy with Vrbata at the start of last year but when he started pissing & moaning about line mates and forgot to show up for the post season, we now find that he sucks goat testicles and we plan on waiving him as soon as he buys a house in Vancouver.`

Either fall out of the playoff race or the kids step up and overshadow these guys. maybe the positive towards moving Hamhuis is the club getting by without him and he is another left handed dman.

Part of that might be JB playing hard to get with the other gm's.

@Hillbilly

JB has maintained that Vrby/Hammer are important to the team and that he would like to resign them.
Whether this is bullsh1t or not is another matter.

St.Louis is looking for scoringhelp, Vrbata for one of their young defensive prospects? I would add a 3rd or 4th for the right one. Schmaltz or Vannelli would be nice.

I remember him saying that(negotiating) about Hamhuis, but seemed a bit more coy previously about Vrbata. Some of this has to be posturing, keeping options open, negotiating to gauge expectations and the market.

I'd expect JB still pines for Lucic and wants to throw some money at him. Not sure if Lucic would be with the Sedins or on the 2nd line.

I can see Hamhuis back more so than Vrbata. It is easier to let them walk than to replace them though.

I like this article and think this rule needs to be changed ASAP:

Its the whole players cant go to the AHL after their draft year.

http://espn.go.com/nhl/st...rospects-allowed-play-ahl

They also need to change that stupid college rule how guys can become UFAs after their Sr season. Its gona really suck if we loose Demko for nothing after next season like how CBJ lost Rielly to the Wild especially now that is already playing top 4 for them.

I'm sure he said at the begining of the season that he would like to resign both.
Could be wrong and agree that it's not worth much, what else could he say.

Agree about Lucic, although i don't think he would fit with sedin's...too slow.

I'd be fine with Hammer traded/re-signed.
I'm a fan.

Vrby i hope we move for a pick and prospect.

I wouldn't be surprised if Benning had someone(or himself) read fan boards. Best way to put butts in the seats is to put together a team of players they want to see.

Id be cool with just getting back the 5th we lost to get him. The question is what happens when all of our forwards get back with the team? We are going to have too many guys. I think Vey has been up too long and will have to go through waivers again, McCann has played his 40th game so he aint moving, does JV go to Jr, do we waive Weber, or do we look to move out another veteran?

With Henrik and Sutter due back after the all star game something should be happening in the next couple weeks.

Yeah. I was wondering about that too.
What does the lineup look like with Hammer, Henrik, Sutter back?

Thats the type of deal I am really hoping for. We need to add a Dman who can play next season and one that has potential to eventually play a top 4 role.
